Tax Articles

The South African Institute of Tax Professionals (SAIT) together with the FASSET SETA have launched a new learnership opportunity for candidates to qualify as a General Tax Professional (NQF level 8). SAIT is also in the process of registering this learnership to allow learners in future to qualify as a Chartered Tax Advisor, which is an internationally recognised qualification.

The qualification involves the following stages:

  1. The knowledge component where a candidate must complete a Taxation Honours, Higher Diploma in Taxation or equivalent and thereafter write a knowledge competency assessment;
  2. Practical skills  this can be attained at certain tertiary institutions or by an accredited workplace training provider;
  3. Workplace experience this is like a “tax articles” which involves the learners completing a training contract with an accredited workplace training provider; and
  4. A final integrated assessment in the form of a national qualifying exam must be passed.

The Tax House is at the forefront of this initiative and is in the process of applying for and obtaining accreditation as a practical skills and workplace training provider and will appoint the first trainees / learners in 2017.

Our Recruitment Process

1Introduction and Selection

CVs and academic transcripts are received from various sources such as agencies, website applications, referrals, graduate recruitment programmes and through members of staff. These CV’s are screened and candidates matching our selection criteria are invited for interviews.

2Interviews

This initial interview gives the candidate an opportunity to learn more about The Tax House, its culture and the role being advertised. This interview also gives The Tax House an opportunity to assess the candidate’s fit to the business as well as an initial assessment of the capabilities of the applicant.

Should The Tax House be satisfied with the result of the first interview, a Manager or Director will conduct second (and possibly third) interviews to further assess the applicant’s suitability for the position advertised.

3Reference Checks

The Tax House reserves the right to do detailed reference checking on all employees, including previous work history, detailed character references, criminal and credit checks etc.

4Written Offer

A high level written offer of employment may be made to the successful candidate highlighting the salient terms of the contract of employment. The candidate is required to accept or decline the offer and return the signed offer to The Tax House.
